Poison or remedies?

It has been a while since i know that my SV is going to held her "inaugural speech"
(*a requirement for Professor post*)
and i have been looking forward to attend the speech...

it was an inspiring talk, not only that it is very informative, but somehow, it inspired me to have the dream to have one on my own..
(*wink2*)

In her introduction speech that was delivered by the University Vice Canselor, i was much astounded by her participation in both academic and non academic field, it was a long list of her participation in both field. This is what an academician should do, not only involve in the academia world, where to teach but also to get involve in the world so that people would be better informed.

From what i gather, this day was long awaited by my SV, 27years, since the first day she started lecturing in the university, wow.....
it was a long wait and a very fruitful one..

and here are some bits and pieces about the inaugural speech (syarahan perdana)
her topic was, organotin as a poison or remedies,
in her field of inorganic chemistry, which this kind of chemistry concentrate on metal ion that is present in our nature, all the other elements in the periodic table..
metal ions, which was once considered very harmful to human health, but now, it has been understood, that these metal ions are also needed in adequate amount to support human health, that is why, in the pharmaceutical today we see all the health supplements are mostly metal ions
(such as, chromium, zinc, ferum, selenium)

so for this "tin" compound, although it has been shown several therapeutic properties such as antitumor, antiviral and so on, more research need to be done in order to find the right amount with the right element to treat the right disease..

*a round of applause to my supervisor, Prof. Dr. Yang Farina Abdul Aziz*

^cheers^
