Medan Trip 2011 - Day 2
We began our morning very early, hahahhaa
we went for breakfast at 730, see~ its early... hahaha
the menu is nasi lemak n nasi goreng indonesia,
the food is ok, but the jus is just too sweet, but in all, its ok la. just need more variety.
Then we decided to rent a whole day charter for us to go around medan safely and easily. It costs us rp450000. We wanted to begin our journey at 10am, but due to some technicality among them, we have to wait until about 1030am to really get our from the hotel. So our first stop was to begin shopping at Pasar Ikan (Pajak) its the place were to find silk, cotton and fabrics to make baju kurung, kebaya and etc. That place is very busy. And our driver had to make 2 rounds to see if there is any parking, but its not our luck, so we went medan mall instead. Here in the medan mall, its just like any other mall, just that the mall is combined with stalls for wholesale purposes, here the clothing are sold wholesale and retail can also be made but since the place is too hot, and we cannot find what we are looking for, so we go back to find our car.
Next stop was thambrin plaza, by right this mall is very near to our hotel, but since the road is all one way, to go here from the hotel, we'll need to make a big merry go round. hahaha. so here at thambrin plaza, we notice that matahari is also here. So we end up looking for stuff at matahari. then we realised that it is lunch hour already, the driver bring us to the most famous place where tourist from malaysia like to eat, Restoren Simpang Tiga. Famous for their nasi padang. The menu was given to us to choose any juice that we wanted or any add on, then they will automatically serve the whole meal of nasi padang (white rice, chicken curry, mutton, fish, fried chicken, and local delicacies) its too much for us, that we dont really like spicy food. hahaha. and we are so full, that we cannot take the desert. owh this cost is rp190000.
Next stop is the famous place of istana maimon (the palace), pls google about this. hahaha. its a big house, and we went there and have to pay rp5000 for entrance fee as to help preserved the palace, there are pictas of the owner and design of the house is very beautiful, but we didnt spend much time there. Outside the palace, there are people selling souveniers, and if u want to buy souvenier i suggest that u buy it here, becos, u can see the t-shirts on the table and u cannot find this anyway else.
So after that we went again to the pasar ikan at jl.perniagaan, this time our driver manage to get a parking and we went to every stalls there looking for the stuff that we wanted, the prices is different at every stall we went thru~ but fortunately we find what we wanted, and since we already tired with all the shopping thingy, besides it started to rain already, so we ask the driver to go back to the hotel. and will resume for night sight seeing.
Our night sight seeing was accompanied by a friend, she told us that the price we pay for the car rental is overpriced its doubled. and she was very furious that we didnt contact her earlier. and so she bring us to her house and went for late dinner near her house. after that her family send us back to the hotel.
